Foreign Ministry’s selling Embassy’s land legal

TEHRAN, Mar. 10 (MNA) – An Iranian newspaper based in northeastern city of Mashhad accused President Rouhani of a secret deal letting the foreign minister to sell some lands of public to the government of Tajikistan.

After a report published by an Iranian newspaper on Thursday, the Public Relations Department at Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Friday rejecting the way the facts were framed in the news peace.

“In 1992, due to good relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Tajikistan, the current building of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dushanbe, with an area of 945 square meters, was endowed to our country by the government of Tajikistan,” reads in a part from the communiqué released on Friday.

The statement continues that in the course of the years 27 surrounding buildings were purchased and added to the main body of the embassy. Some of the added buildings were as small as 20 square meters. The Foreign Ministry asserts that after the formal request of the Tajik government to demolish the building and construct some new projects of the city in the area it was agreed to make necessary cooperation with the Tajik government so the total sum for the 27 buildings bought by the Islamic Republic of Iran was repaid by the Tajik government and a new land of 250 ares (25,000 m2) was given to Iran to build a new embassy in Dushanbe.

According to the same communiqué the construction of the new building is undergoing and near completion.

“It is worth to mention that purchasing or selling any land owned by an administrative body requires the permission of cabinet and the permission referred to by that newspaper is the legal permission issued by the cabinet and the way the news has been framed or titled is irreconcilable with truth,” closes the statement.
